But here are a few that i like from the past week or two - been so snowed under at work that by the time i get round to the sketchbook my brains turned to mush and i end up drawing pirates (one of which i’ve included - ya hah me harties, urgh!) eating ice creams and battling with giant lollypops.

The reason i’ve been soooo busy is that i was set the challenge of making one of my doodles into a 3d model (in a peice of software i’ve never used - and not having touched any 3d modeling software for so many years) and then animate it for a TV show, also showing the design process from sketch to render. Well, i think i’ve managed to pull it off, and as soon as i have a draft, i”ll post it - as well as that, numerous new interactives for CNN including a new style of quiz, and a video type one coming up.

*phew*

oh, yeah, if you’re a designer, and around brighton in the future - look out for Skillswap, organized by Clearleft - went to it with Andy last week, and aswell as being a good chance to chat to people of a similar ilk, you may get an idea or two.

On another note, went to the Beachdown Festival over the weekend - a bit of an organizational nightmare to start with (cummon, one burger van for the entire campsite), but sitting in a natural amphitheatre watching the magic numbers, the beat and fun lovin criminals made up for the first night - had to bale early as the weather was awful, but i would recomend it for next year.

So i finally got it all finished, the new Olympics fanzone is up and running, with the now customary personality quiz, of which you can see some of the artwork above, and a button mashing track and feild game i’ve been working my behind off to make, please do go take a look and tell me what you think.

Just finished the quiz for just imagine , lemme know what you think - the programming was a bit of a challenge, but the drawings were great fun, hopefully I’ll have a bit more time to work on the backgrounds next time - but I’m very happy with it as is.

It’s up, it’s up! the map that i’ve been designing to show the international leg of the torch route is up, it will be constantly updated with relevant stories and iReports from the torches location, have a look here.

People seemed to like that interactive i posted last time - so here are a couple of my other ones - The Jargon Buster and a Foreign Policy explainer - not as quirky as the comic, but if you’re confused by the international implications or the sometimes strange lingo used, these should help you out.

I’ve included a couple of the initial sketches of the comic panels, i think they have a bit more feeling than the flash colored ones.

So i’ve finished another interactive for the politics section on CNN - a semi interactive comic ‘8 steps to the white house‘ - i really enjoyed doing the illustrations, but they were a hurriedly done as i had to get the coding done, and a load of other projects to complete (plus the pen tool in flash 8 is absolutely crap!) - so hopefully back to the bi-daily doodles next week.

So I’ve been way-laid over the past week or two with work, illness and - strangest of all - reading! i haven’t read a book in, well, since i had to - but to my astonishment i’ve got hooked on the ‘His dark materials’ trilogy. I started reading ‘Northern lights’ on my girlfriends recommendation, and due to the fact the film is coming out next month - and had to go out and buy the other two. I’m sure i’ll have finished them next week and the daily doodles will be flowing again… any way, one doodle from last week, and some illustrations for Just imagine.
