So, went paint balling over the weekend for Kate’s birthday - it’s funny, most of the close range shot bruises I’ve got don’t hurt - but my thighs will hardly move anymore more due to squatting behind trees and running through mud all day. Hey ho! must do it more often (if only it wasn’t sooo expensive!) - anyway, here’s Friday’s and today’s doodles.

so, I’m still churning out interactives - which seem to be going down well, but realized i haven’t uploaded any doodles in a week or so, sooo….here are some from this week.

So, another interactive down, I’m really pleased with this one….

I did the illustrations from scratch and then put in slight animations for the speech and they randomly link, click here for it and please tell me what you think.

It’s up, it’s up! the map that i’ve been designing to show the international leg of the torch route is up, it will be constantly updated with relevant stories and iReports from the torches location, have a look here.

so, been ironing out the kinks in two interactives i’ve been working on for a week or so - hopefuly they’ll launch soon.

I went to a brilliant lecture/workshop hosted by Colin Moock on AS3 the other day, kindly put on by Adobe and partners to slowly introduce us designer/developers to the crazy world of object oriented programming - it was superb(even though it was 9 odd hours long), so i come back to work all enthused about AS3 - but i have to wait until i get my software upgrade. In the meantime i crack open the old Flash 8, spend a week coding an intricate interactive - and then Kev drops the bomb - the links don’t work in Firefox, now i don’t know whether its adobe or mozilla, but surely the simplest getURL command should work everywhere ? i mean it works in IE, and it works in firefox as long as the href is hardcoded into the command - but when it comes to pulling the address from an XML file -oooohno johnny, not me!

Any way - thats let off some steam, back to looking for a solution…..

People seemed to like that interactive i posted last time - so here are a couple of my other ones - The Jargon Buster and a Foreign Policy explainer - not as quirky as the comic, but if you’re confused by the international implications or the sometimes strange lingo used, these should help you out.

I’ve included a couple of the initial sketches of the comic panels, i think they have a bit more feeling than the flash colored ones.

So i’ve finished another interactive for the politics section on CNN - a semi interactive comic ‘8 steps to the white house‘ - i really enjoyed doing the illustrations, but they were a hurriedly done as i had to get the coding done, and a load of other projects to complete (plus the pen tool in flash 8 is absolutely crap!) - so hopefully back to the bi-daily doodles next week.
